    Katja Odening studied Medicine at the Medical Schools of Ruprecht-Karls-University (Heidelberg, Germany) and Université Claude-Bernard (Lyon, France) (1997-2004) and obtained her MD and approbation in 2004. She then joined the Department of Cardiology of Prof C Bode at the University Hospital Freiburg as a Clinical Fellow, and became attending physician in cardiology in 2013. From 2006-2009 she spent a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the Cardiovascular Research Center (Prof G Koren) at Rhode Island Hospital and Brown Medical School (Providence, USA). Since 2010 Katja heads the Experimental Cardiac Electrophysiology at the Department of Cardiology at the University Hospital Freiburg, where she habilitated in internal medicine in 2012. Since 2016 Katja is an Adjunct Professor at the University Hospital of Freiburg and head of the Translational Research group at IEKM.
